ucA Launches New Student Air Rifle Marksmanship Program

United Christian Academy is excited to announce the addition of a new student air rifle marksmanship program beginning in the 2026–27 school year.

The program was made possible through a generous $3,500 grant from the Federation Fund for Conservation and Training, a program of the Vermont Federation of Sportsmen’s Clubs, through its Montague Keenan Grant Program. The grant will provide the equipment, supplies, and training needed to establish the program at ucA.

The Student Air Rifle program will provide opportunities for students across multiple grade levels. Fourth- and fifth-grade students will be introduced to air rifle marksmanship as part of a physical education unit, while students in grades 6–12 will have the opportunity to participate in the program as a competitive league activity.

Competitions will be conducted as postal competitions, allowing students to compete from ucA while submitting their scores for weekly league standings. Both boys and girls in eligible grades are encouraged to participate.

The new program represents the third competitive sport program ucA has added in the past three years. Esports was introduced during the fall of the 2024–25 school year, trap was added in the spring of the 2025–26 school year, and now marksmanship joins ucA’s growing lineup of competitive opportunities for students.

“We are excited to continue expanding the opportunities available to our students,” said ucA administration. “This program will give students the opportunity to develop discipline, concentration, and sportsmanship while competing as part of a team.”
